What to Expect at Your First Visit
Will I feel anything?
Every procedure here is offered with sedation, and the choice is made with you before the day of surgery. Whichever you choose, it is administered and monitored by the surgeon operating on you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see an oral surgeon?
No. Most patients are referred by their general dentist, but you can book a consultation with us directly. If you do have a referral, bring any x-rays or notes your dentist sent with you and we will review them at your first visit.
What is the difference between a dentist and an oral & maxillofacial surgeon?
An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is a dental specialist who, after dental school, completes an additional four-to-six-year hospital-based surgical residency in anesthesia, medicine and surgery of the mouth, jaws and face. Dr. Salib is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which is why complex extractions, dental implants, jaw surgery and sedation are handled here rather than referred out.
Will I be asleep during my procedure?
You can be. Options run from local anesthetic and nitrous oxide to IV sedation and general anesthesia — under IV sedation most patients are deeply relaxed and remember little or nothing, and general anesthesia is available in the office for those who want to be fully asleep. Dr. Salib is anesthesia trained and administers the sedation himself, and the right option is chosen with you at the consultation.
How much does wisdom teeth removal cost in Newport Beach?
It depends on how many teeth are removed, whether they are erupted or impacted, the sedation you choose, imaging, and whether PRP is added. Rather than quote a single figure, we scan first and give you the whole cost in writing at the consultation, with your insurance benefits applied, before anything is scheduled.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most dental insurance, verify your benefits before treatment, and submit claims on your behalf — including medical claims where a procedure qualifies. Bring your insurance details to the consultation and the front office will check your coverage and give you a written estimate. Financing is also available through CareCredit, no-interest monthly plans and all major cards.
How long is recovery after wisdom teeth removal?
Swelling peaks at 48 to 72 hours and most patients are back to normal activity within a week; the sockets close over about three to four weeks. Soft food and no straws for the first few days, and PRP is offered to support faster, more comfortable healing.
Do you see emergency cases?
Yes. Severe pain, swelling, infection, a knocked-out tooth or a jaw injury are treated urgently — call (949) 204-0775 and describe what is happening, and the team will tell you the soonest option. For trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding you cannot control, call 911 or go to the nearest ER first.
What areas do you serve?
The practice is at 2121 E Coast Hwy in Corona del Mar and treats patients from across Orange County — Newport Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach and the surrounding communities.
